FRIDAY, October 20
VILLAGE FUNGI FEAST
6:00 p.m., Yachats Commons, Hwy. 101 and W 4th St.

Calling all fun-guys and fun-gals to an evening of savory mushroom dishes by local chefs. This gala event also includes live Fun-gal entertainment with Tall Mushroom Tales by storyteller "T" McCracken, and old world musical sounds by Meg Graf (of Calamity Jazz fame) - on piano, celtic harp, flute and accordian. A Tantalizing Desserts Auction and a Silent Auction follow dinner. Literary references to mushrooms will line the dinner hall. Proceeds from this gala will be dedicated to the Yachats Public Library to help it expand its audio equipment and Books on CD collection.

Unified Grocers Mushroom buyer and produce managers will be able to answer questions about cultivated culinary mushrooms. Sponsored by Clarks' Market, Ostrum Mushrooms and Unified Grocers.
  • Wine Tasting

$5 WEEKEND PASS
Weekend passes may be purchased in advance at
the Yachats Visitors Center, 541/547-3530 and Judith's Kitchen Tools,
both located on Hwy 101 between W 3rd and W 2nd Streets.
Passes may also be purchased during festival weekend at the Yachats Commons, Hwy 101 and W 4th St., as well as at the Yachats Visitors Center and Judith's Kitchen Tools. This $5 pass helps cover our costs for the mushroom displays, mushroom talks, festival programs, and two days of shuttle service.

FUNGI EXHIBITS ~ IN THE VILLAGE


Lincoln County Mycological Society's Mushroom Display (mushrooms are all labeled) Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Yachats Commons, Hwy 101 & W 5th St.
Exhibits in Room 8 (on North side of building next to Bank of the West).

Native Forest Fungi Displays and Educational Exhibits
Provided by the Lincoln County Mycological Society, the North American Truffling Society, and Cascade Mycological Society.

Displays and exhibits will include

  • fresh examples of both edible and toxic wild mushrooms
  • posters, books and other materials presenting current research on the ecology of wild mushrooms
  • an opportunity to ask questions and chat about fungi with people who know and love them

 

HARVEST FARMERS' MARKET ~ IN THE VILLAGE

Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Outdoor market with fresh local produce, fresh and dried native forest fungi, mushroom food, and local arts and crafts. (Moved indoors in inclement weather.) MUSHROOM WALKS ~ CAPE PERPETUA
Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Guided mushroom walks, introductory level and advanced, will leave from the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center (about 3 miles south of Yachats).

DURING FESTIVAL WEEKEND, SIGN UP FOR WALKS AT THE FRONT DESK OF THE CAPE PERPETUA VISITORS CENTER -- in person or by phone, (541) 547-3289. SORRY NO ADVANCE (pre-Festival) REGISTRATION FOR WALKS. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled walk time. Walks will be led by professional and amateur mycologists, forest ecologists and naturalists. Walks are held on excellent easy trails in the spectacular coastal mature and old growth forest of Cape Perpetua. Outdoor clothing, sturdy walking shoes/boots, and rainwear are advised. Limited handicapped accessibility.

Self-guided walks are also possible during festival weekend.

Fabulous slideshow with over 300 images, produced by Matt Trappe . Each slide includes the mushroom's scientific name and common name (if it has one).
