Every hour small groups will be chauffered to and from the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve. Wander the paths within the 3.5-acre woodland garden. Docents available to assist if needed. Hear the rippling of the creek, Hummingbird trills, magical music. Wildflowers are nestled in carpets of moss. View unusual plant species, shades of green, blooming color. The World Wide Knitting in Public (WWKIP) event comes to Yachats.
On JUNE 1, knitters will TAG the town with knitted sea creatures.
On JUNE 16, knitters will be everywhere knitting in public in honor of WWKIP Day.

March thru May Knitting Workshops Open to All: Gearing up for these June events, several FREE knitting workshops are scheduled at the Yachats Commons in Rm 3 [#15]: Friday, 6:30 pm, March 30; Tuesdays, 3 pm, April 10 & 24, May 8 & 28. Everyone is welcome - male and female, young and young-at-heart, skilled and all thumbs. ANNUAL JULY 3 FIREWORKS IN WALDPORT
Celebrate Waldport's Centennial and enjoy a fabulous display of fireworks over Alsea Bay beginning at dusk. You'll find plenty of sandy beach to enjoy the view. Park at Patterson State Park or park in Waldport to view the festivities from the Historic Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center or along Keady Wayside. Arrive early and build a sand castle, catch Dungeness crab in Alsea Bay, search for sand dollars along miles of sandy beach, toast marshmallows over a bonfire, ride a green bike and then, by all means enjoy the fireworks! After the parade explore the town for an afternoon of great food, games, entertainment and live music. Find a place on the beach by the mouth of the Yachats river to watch the afternoon Duck Race. VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE

The Queen Ann style Keeper's House will be decorated with Victorian flourishes inside and out. Enjoy warm drinks and treats and performances by local musicians. Santa Claus will be there, and there will be a holiday raffle with great prizes from local businesses. Shuttle service will be offered from Heceta Head Lighstation State Scenic Area parking lot to the front door. Or bring warm, rainproof clothing and a flashlight and enjoy a beautiful walk up from the parking lot/beach. The parking fee is $3 or present your Oregon Coast Passport. FMI: (541) 547-3696. The lightstation is located just 14 miles south of Yachats.
