Thinking of Relocating?

Whether you are looking at the central Oregon coast for a site for your business or for a bright quality of life, we welcome you to explore what awaits you in the thriving community of Yachats! The magnificent beauty of the beaches, world-class gardens, and majestic forested mountains has attracted remarkable, creative people to this haven by the sea. This energetic village promotes small business opportunities and offers a full social life in a caring seaside community.

What does Yachats have to offer?

Natural beauty, location, community - Yachats offers a rich quality of life with quiet neighborhoods, fresh air, natural scenic beauty, exciting cultural activities, an outstanding library, and a strong network of people who appreciate the importance of taking care of their village, natural environment, and each other.

And there are other great reasons for living in Yachats - such as our Goldilocksclimate, neither too hot nor too cold. Daily temperatures in Yachats are more constant than in almost any other city in the United States. The highs during the summer average no more than 66 °F; the lows in the coldest part of the winter average 39 °F, well above freezing. Frost is rare and snowfall even rarer. And the occasional winter storm is looked on as a tourist attraction, as inland visitors come to the coast to watch the wild waves and experience the excitement.

Located 26 miles north of Florence and 26 miles south of Newport, Yachats is the hub of the central Oregon coast corridor on scenic Hwy 101. Yachats is 83 miles northwest of the University of Oregon in Eugene and 74 miles southwest of Oregon State University in Corvallis. This proximity of large universities has resulted in a highly educated citizenry. Over 94% of adults in Yachats have graduated from high school, much higher than the national average of 80.4%; college graduates make up 40.3% of the Yachats population, compared with 24.4% nationally.

Nestled between the forest and the sea with friendly small businesses and active residents, Yachats is one of the best spots for vacations and retirement on the west coast. The area thrives with recreational opportunities, including miles of hiking trails and sandy beach, gorgeous places to kayak, fish and golf, local galleries and performing arts, and local world class attractions.

Residents and visitors also find many on-going local programs - community gardens, exercise classes, ballroom dancing, drum circles, book and writing discussions, Scrabble nights, jam sessions, film-making, poetry and play reading opportunities, photography and art workshops - all open to anyone who wants to take part. In addition, community pride has led to a large, enthusiastic volunteer force, enriching lives and providing the city with a support system of abundant skill and experience. There's always something wonderful happening in Yachats.
