Come Celebrate the Arts in Yachats!

You probably know that a visit to Yachats means surrounding yourself with nature; the beautiful Pacific Ocean borders our idyllic village to the west, framed by rocky outcroppings and sandy beaches, while dense, temperate forests snuggle up along the eastern edge of town. Our connection with nature is strong here and is often represented through a wide variety of visual art that is produced locally and from around the area. Galleries and other public spaces regularly display an expansive array of art from artists that reside here and from the area, and annual events and art shows invite visitors and residents alike to view many different kinds of

art.

The Yachats Art Guild and the Yachats Ladies Club are offering two annual events that take place this weekend. The Yachats Art Guild will host “Here Comes the Sun,” a three-day art show that will run from Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29. The event will happen between 10 A.M to 4 P.M in the Yachats Commons. The show will feature two dozen talented artists, who will exhibit their compositions and creations, including photography, watercolor, silk painting, jewelry, stained glass, and woodwork. The Yachats Ladies Club is holding a craft bazaar just two blocks away at 286 W. 3 rd Street on the same Saturday and Sunday from 10 A.M to 2 P.M. The bazaar will feature many craft items like scarves, pillows, throws, and soaps, and will also feature a variety of baked goods, such as mini pies, strawberry freezer jam, and fresh bread.

In addition to these shows and others throughout the year, you can also enjoy art year-round in Yachats. We have some great galleries that showcase the art we produce, and they are all located close to one another. Earthworks Gallery is an amazing gallery that features works by nationally known and Northwest artists. You’ll find a variety of media and artistic style such as wood, clay, glass, jewelry, and pastel and watercolor paintings. Earthworks is open daily from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Touchstone Gallery represents 120 Oregon artists, and offers whimsical, sophisticated, and graceful works of jewelry, glass, ceramics, paintings, bronze and various sculpture. Touchstone is open Thursday through Monday from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Peephole Gallery and Studio features a great diversity of media, style, and techniques that come from an assortment of established and emerging artists. The Peephole also offers the unique opportunity to watch an artist at work or take one of their frequent workshops. Peephole Gallery is also open Thursday through Monday from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.

The Yachats Chamber of Commerce is excited to welcome you to the coast! Visit our website at yachats.org for a detailed list of events and a variety of ideas that will enhance your stay.
